Echoes of Praise Biography
On 17 March 2007, a group Of youths from Zengeza Methodist Church saw the need of a Choir since the church offered 2 services the 8am and 10am (Which had no choir)and formed the Appointed which was later renamed Echoes of Praise. They aimed to preach the gospel thru music. Echoes started leading music in the 10am service. Founder Members were Terrence Safiriyo, Grace Mtongwizo, Patience, Tapiwa Dzobo and Simbarashe Mupemhi. They held their 1st meeting one 24th of March with Grace chairing and Mr Mazanhi became the patron & Mrs Chikuruwo was chosen to be the Advisor the group welcomed new members & grew in numbers with Nicodemus Jani, Vimbai Jenami, Kudzi, Marvelous Sungai Magwegwe, Brighton Chikomo/Masalaulo, Beaven Murindagomo, Tapiwa Chipfurutse, Tafadzwa Murindagomo Rumbidzai Musitu, Jacqueline Mhandu, Takudzwa Chidzambwa, Francis Mutazu, Tafadzwa Rukure and Ruramai Muchena. The group continued to sing at church gatherings and went on to perform at other church branches. It was at these performances that it was inspired to record an album thereby the birth of its 1st album Zororo ndiJesu, which was recorded in 2009 & released I 2012. Echoes of Praise sing songs from the Methodist hymnbook and also composes songs inspired by the word of God. It was a big challenge for the church to accept Echoes' original songs since Methodist is a traditional church it expected echoes to sing only from the church hymnbook. Before its recording Zororo ndiJesu the group encountered a lot of challenges. The didn’t have enough funds to fund its project, also it had no one to train their vocals and help out on the technical side of things.
However, people really loved Zororo ndiJesu.Unfortunately, we failed to market it properly hence it not reaching a wider audience. Along the years some of the founder members left and we were joined by Davies Mtazu
